Pawpaw Gene’s 90th Birthday

This party was created and celebrated in October 2015.

It’s not everyday you get to turn 90. It’s a really grand occasion. So for my Pawpaw’s 90th birthday I knew I had to make it one to remember. Here we are weeks later and he’s still talking about it. Unfortunately the day of the party we had horrendous weather. We rarely have terrible weather in October here in Louisiana, in fact all week before the party had been pretty nice. But nevertheless we were having a party and making the best of it no matter what. Luckily we have awesome family and friends and most showed up anyway despite the weather. We even had family come from out of town to celebrate with the birthday boy.

So how did I throw together such a momentous occasion? I chose my theme wisely. My grandfather loves fishing. He has always been a fisherman. Since a young age he spent many days trying to catch the “big one.” And there have been many big fish tales over the years. Some I can vouch for and others, well, lets just say I wouldn’t bet anything on those. So fishing was the theme. I scoured the internet for ideas for the last several years. Yes, you read that right, years…thats how long I’ve been thinking about this event. He said 2 years ago he wanted a 90th birthday so I started my search and my Pinterest board. It took me about 6 months to get everything finished. I’d work on things here and there between my Etsy shop orders. Then about a month before the party I really pushed hard to nail down all the details and finish it all up. I worked on things just about every day for 4 weeks so lots of love went into creating all this.

So, here are the pictures and all the details from the party. Some items can be purchased through my Etsy shop. Drop me a line if you have any questions, I’ll bite to answer them! Okay that was a little cheesy, but hey, this is all in fun right?!? Enjoy!
